CIE ID, also named Software CIE, is the middleware released by the
Italian government agency Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato on
behalf of Ministero dell'Interno (the Italian Ministry of Interior),
needed to use the digital services associated with the Italian
electronic identity card (CIE).
This application allows:
1) access to digital services of government websites that require eID
   authentication with level 1, 2, 3, using a web browser
2) sign digital documents usingh your digital identity
3) verify the signature of documents with digital signature
4) change the PIN (Personal Identification Number) code associated to
   your CIE
5) unlock your card by resetting your PIN code using the PUK (Personal
   Unblocking Key) released with your card.

Use of these services by a personal computer requires a smart card
lector NFC (Near Field Communication), also named contactless,
connected via USB port.
