Release notes for 0.5.2
=======================
With a slightly prolongued freeze period Midori 0.5.2 is out of the
door - for the second time, because the previous release didn't have the
new version number. We made a big leap on the promised WebKit2 support -
it's not
fully done yet but very, very usable despite not having context menus
and some extensions are to be done. Definitely worth giving a go for
anyone curious about multi-process goodness who can live without
adblock
if need be.
Downloads and web app support have both received major refactoring,
making the code much more modular and approachable, and fixing buglets
and adding polish along the way. Downloads work more reliably across
windows and more quality control across panel and toolbar. The way is
paved for even more goodness. For the first time you can manage web
apps/ launchers created from within Midori graphically. This is also up
for even more improvements.
To round it up a whole lot of code improvements have come from static
analysis such as clang (LLVM) and other sources and a number of buglets
were squashed. Despite all the bigger changes QA is looking very good.
Note to self: having strict feature freeze periods before every release
is paying off, even if it's hard in a small team.

Release notes for 0.5.0
=======================
Time for Midori 0.5.0. I'll say upfront the big number 5 doesn't convey
any major amazements or surprises. What this number does mean is two
things that will unfold their true meaning in the near future: We're
adding support for WebKit2 behind the scenes, much of which didn't make
the feature freeze. Another behind the scenes feature is improved
extension loading, which will enable extensions in private browsing or
in app mode.
A small highlight is in fact the Cookie Security Manager. What's hiding
behind this name you may wonder. Accepting, or rejecting and managing
cookies per site as they come in in real-time with infobars. The perfect
augmentation for Cookie Manager and of course nice in combination with
Clear Private Data and Adblock.
On the command line and kiosk use case front, -e or --execute has become
a great deal more powerful. It's now trivial to update any settings at
startup or during runtime, as well as enabling or disabling extensions.
There's more treats to be found, such as completely configurable Mouse
Gestures, waiting for a GUI to be added, maybe a good starting point for
a new contributor. And History List finally supports ColorFul Tabs
fully.
As of this release, any proxy server type supported by libproxy will in
fact be accepted. The server including the protocol can be set via its
curl-esque syntax in the preferences.

Release notes for 0.4.9
=======================
It's this time of the month again. Midori 0.4.9 is there, 3 weeks of
features and 1 week of bug fixes is the new mantra, giving everyone
higher quality as a result.
Anyone experiencing crashes on closing Adlock preferences, using
Backspace in the urlbar under the wrong circumstances or attaching the
inspector will rejoice, those buglets were resolved. Along with a
resizing issue in the news feed extension and possible loss of the saved
tab session if the disk is full.
A new extension is being developed to manage cookie accept behavior per
domain. Too late for feature freeze it's excempt from stable installs,
but interested folks can try it in a build from source, likely to be
available in the next cycle.
Midori relies on GTK+ 3.4 touchscreen support now, including kinetic
scrolling. This lets us drop extra support code and rely on the same
code used by other applications.
As a small bonus, 'Google Translate (gt)' was added to the default
search engines. Use "gt WORD" or "gt URL" to translate using Google's
translation service. You can also right-click a selected word and use
'Search with' to the same effect.
Evidently the coolest thing to announce is WebKit2 preparation - again,
preparation not full support. Indeed --enable-webkit2 will build Midori
with the multi-process API. Most non-trivial features are silently
missing but it's the first step into a shiny new world.

Release notes for 0.4.8
=======================
As they say, the exception proves the rule. Consequently Midori 0.4.8
fermented a little longer than most releases. The number of bug fixes is
too plenty to make for a good read: let it be said that bugs in 0.4.7
with opening Midori in different modes, GLib-related build errors and
forever delayed pages are gone - now on to the new features.
Autocompletion includes open tabs now, is generally more responsive and
open to more extensions in the near future. Speaking of extensions,
Netscape plugins can be individually enabled and disabled seemlessly.
Icon loading received a major refactoring, bookmarks and search engines
mostly wave goodbye to the well-known "default icon".
Support for Granite 0.2 was improved big time. As a treat,
autocompletion features a side-by-side layout.
To round things up, inline search highlights all matches by default to
increase readability and the urlbar tries harder to keep selected text
working as expected.
Spoiler alert: The Win32 version will support FlashGet. Updated builds
are still in the making. Incidentally if you missed it, on Linux wget,
SteadyFlow or any other command line-accessible external download
manager can be used.

Release notes for 0.4.7
=======================
Midori 0.4.7 has reached a new level of downloading experience. Panel
and statusbar consistently verify file integrity, show size, remaining
time and speed of a file. An icon and expected file size are displayed
before saving a file. External download managers, namely SteadyFlow,
Aria2 or command-line based such as wget are available in the
preferences. To counter fishing sites which fake downloads as
demonstrated by Michal Zalweski the origin of the file is clearly
visible. Finally, you can now save whole websites including any images,
scripts and other resources – optionally.
On the topic of security Midori has reached another milestone. Goodbye
colorful urlbar, you were beautiful but let’s face it, once you get
used to the colors nobody pays attention even when it’s read. What
this means is that SSL errors are now fatal by default – conveniently
we can use GCR, a library based on GNOME keyring, to show plenty of
detail for a certificate. Once you “Trust” a website other GCR-using
applications can also trust it.
The cherry on the secure cake is HSTS, not to be confused with whatever
Wikipedia may suggest it stands for, HTTP Strict Transport Security,
which Midori recognizes and caches behind the scenes – no UI by
design, you get SSL without typing https.
For lots of other exciting goodies in this release, see the ridiculously
long beast of a change log. And stay tuned on the Windows build –
it’s going to follow soon.

Release notes for 0.4.5
=======================
A feature that excites me personally a lot is support for external
download managers. You will find Aria2 and SteadyFlow support in the
preferences under Extensions. Once activated, the Save button in
download prompts offloads downloads instead of saving the file
internally. This means you can stop worrying if Midori keeps run all the
time, you may get faster downloads than WebKit can provide and in the
case of SteadyFlow a GTK+ UI with support for Ayatana indicators. Do
note currently only Aria2 recognizes Cookies from the browser, and if a
particular download doesn’t work, use Save As instead.
There have been some erroneously blocked links with Adblock. This has
been solved by introducing an automated whitelist for actively opened
pages. The whitelist may be extended for other uses cases in the future.
There’ve also been bug fixes around the Block Image feature which
broke in certain cases.
Despite known problems with GTK+3 Midori supports overlays for the
statusbar and inline find bar with GTK+ 3.2. Optionally there’s also
support for Granite, an extension library written in Vala, which among
other things provides pop-overs and a new notebook widget. At the moment
it’s still under development and it’s not recommended for packaging
just yet. But you can try it with –enable-granite –enable-gtk3.
The Windows build got some love, opening of downloads now falls back to
an ‘Open With’ dialog automatically and opening of images works
well. Application associations such as the text editor for viewing
source code also give a more sensible choice. And we’re taking the
step to making the experimental build the new prime Windows release. So
you get full Asian font support (Unicode) and HTML5 video.
The about:version page Midori has to provide information useful for
debugging is now also listing other special pages, such as the newly
added about:geolocation to test geo location support if it’s enabled
in WebKit. In contrast to some websites out there, it will give accurate
results not affected by browser discrimination.
Uses of sqlite, which is relevant for for history, bookmarks and cookies
have been tweaked. WAL mode is now used if the system supports it. In
short, it is faster.
Smaller issues also got attention, like internal javascript improvements
which could break Google apps among others, there was a case where form
history could break a website and invalid characters in filenames are
handled better.
Last but not least, you can right-click Back and Forward buttons now, to
get a menu with the 10 last or next pages. So if there’s a website
re-directing you when you hit Back, you can now right-click Back and
open it manually.

Release notes for 0.4.4
=======================
Once again we made improvements to the GTK+ support which was part of
the reason the release was delayed. Unfortunately several remaining
behavioral issues which couldn't be tracked down to Midori code indicate
it's still not on par with GTK+2. Build with --enable-gtk3 to enable
GTK+3 support.
The work-around for the infamous clipboard bug was removed for >=
WebKitGTK+ 1.4.3. It's however recommended to upgrade WebKit if possible
because it also affects applications like Empathy and Devhelp.
Unity menubar support was improved, including a work-around for the
hardcoded blacklisting in menuproxy. In this instance I was a bit
disappointed that there was no attempt from the maintainers to bring the
problems to our attention rather than silently disabling it and waiting
for users to give very puzzling problem reports.
DuckDuckGo has been the default search engine for a while. Meanwhile it
received several improvements. Midori now co-operates with the search
engine so that some revenue from the advertisements is donated to Midori
by using a constant, non-unique tag. Incidentally, there will be Midori
stickers on Chemnitz Linux days made possible by donations.
The experimental fullscreen API used by HTML5 video websites is now
supported. Bookmark deletion and export were fixed. IPv6 addresses are
handled better when typed in the urlbar. An 'Open in Image Viewer'
feature was implemented. The = key in Ukrainian layout is handled
better. Speed Dial features drag and drop re-ordering.
When starting Private Browsing mode a new informative page is shown
lining out the key facts differently to normal web browsing sessions.
Midori should be secure by default, but users also need to understand
why that is the case, rather than trusting it blindly.
As a last-minute goodie, if Midori is run with less than 352 MB RAM, the
page cache is automatically disabled which greatly improves memory usage
in such setups.
The experimental site data policy [2] finally allows basic whitelisting
and blacklisting of web cookies, local databases and preserving of
values when clearing private data. Do note however at this point this is
not complete, and there is no UI yet. In this spirit, the Clear Private
Data dialog also unifies the different types of site data.

Release notes for 0.4.3
=======================
The web inspector resizing issues were addressed and the maximum number
of closed tabs in private browsing is fixed.
There were a number of improvements to the GTK+ 3 support. Private
browsing makes use of the dark theme. The new
channel-(in)secure-symbolic icons are used if they're available. The
location supports .security-(un)trusted style classes. Tab icons display
properly. Configure no longer requires the GTK+ 2 version of
javascriptcore. The speed dial is fully usable.
There were a whole lot of performance improvements. Startup is much
faster due to optimizing how actions and tabs are created. Adblock uses
less allocations - and the Easy Privacy list is included by default -
and the cookie manager became faster.
Location and search in the toolbar can now be resized by dragging,
fullscreen hides all bars and borders now and the preference to override
all fonts handles monospaced fonts more selectively.
Support for GTK+3 is considered beta quality. It's almost ready but
minor issues are still expected. Build with --enable-gtk3
--disable-addons to test it.

Release notes for 0.4.2
=======================
The most crucial bit first: the bookmark dialog crashes are fixed. If
nothing else that's a good reason to upgrade to Midori 0.4.2.
So we have faster, base64-based CSS support for globally valid user
stylesheets and adblock rules. And styles can apply to about: and
file:// URIs. Parsing of -moz-document which is used to select domains
or schemes to apply styles to was improved.
Speed dial received a makeover. It resizes automatically now, has neatly
embossed tiles and shows close buttons on hover - which show on the left
if your system/ theme expects that. If thumbnails are missing they will
be refreshed without intervention.
Cookies are stored in an sqlite3 database. Import of existing data
happens in the background. And you can decide whether you want
third-party cookies or not, the default is in fact to not accept cookies
coming from websites you don't actually visit.
There are loads more of subtle tweaks and improvements. A lot of code
was actually refactored and removed to ensure that Midori stays the
lightweight it aims to be. See the change log for those details.
Support for GTK+3 is still considered experimental and not recommended
for daily use. Build with --enable-gtk3 --disable-addons to try it out.

Release notes for 0.4.1
=======================
So this release builds with WebKitGTK+ >= 1.4.3 without problems and
addresses regressions with middle clicking toolbar buttons. Flash window
on background tabs works correctly now and cookies are cleared on quit
like they should if you enable it.
There's a separate Private Browsing shortcut now so that you can see it
in GNOME Shell, Unity, Slingshort or Synapse and also type "private" to
easily open a private browsing session. Closed tabs can now be re-opened
in private browsing (but won't be saved once you close it as you would
expect). You can also see downloaded files in supporting launchers now
as recent documents.
The new Automatic option for Identify As now enables built-in
compatiblity quirks to work around mis-behaving websites like Google's.
You can still choose a genuine Midori identity which doesn't do that.
There's also experimental GTK+3 support. For now it is not recommended
because there are still issues to sort out. Build with --enable-gtk3
--disable-addons to try it out.

Release notes for 0.4.0
=======================
Time for a major release. The leading motto is cleanup and as we jump to
Midori 0.4.0 we increase minimum requirements to WebKitGTK+ 1.1.17 and
Vala 0.10 (Vala used to be optional). This allows us to say goodbye to
several portions of backwards-comaptibility code. Anybody who has some
familiarity with the code knows Midori used to try very hard to run on
older systems, some may say too hard. Midori 0.3.6¹ will remain
available for anyone who can't upgrade yet. This benefits users insofar
as more time is available for new features instead of looking at old
code.
Adblock is making another big step forward. URL cache, a faster JS
generator (some ads are removed via dynamic javascript code), inline
parsing (10% speed-up), empty lines are skipped and subdocument rules
are ignored now. Big kudos goes to Alex Butenko aka avb!
The crash dialog received the love it deserved, you can now choose
whether to discard, load or delay the last open tabs analogous to the
usual startup preference. So if Midori crashed and you don't think it
will happen again, just proceed as usual.
Many people don't know about a nitfy feature in Midori, which is going
Forward to the next page. From now on you can hit Space at the bottom of
a page to go to the next page, just like in a mail client. Note that
this depends on the page. Pages with links labelled "Next" or similar
will be recognized. Ideally ‘rel="next"’ is used in the HTML so
Midori knows what the next page is. Try it on your favourite forum,
mailing list archive or search engine (unless you are using DuckDuckGo²
which seemlessly loads as you scroll).
A long-awaited improvement is that looking at source code or saving
files no longer re-loads the same file. Unity users will welcome the
addition of Quicklist items for opening tabs and windows.
'Last open tabs' is now an item in the Clear Private Data dialog.
Midori 0.3.6 added support for Backspace and F5 (Back/ Reload).
Shift+Backspace and Ctrl+= are now also supported.
Midori 0.3.6 introduced geo URI support³, for example
geo:50.75504,7.07751 . There was a crash related to invalid URIs and
this is now fixed.

Release notes for 0.3.6
=======================
[Please note that this is a development release.]
This is a bugfix release, peppered with a few minor goodies as usual.
There were issues with importing the older speed dial configuration at
startup on some systems, and crashes when using the address completion.
An issue with icon sizes in error pages as well as handling of https
URLs in Adblock were also resolved.
Motivated by confusion of users of Adblock, URIs in Adblock, when adding
bookmarks and when changing the homepage are no validated visually.
Backspace and F5 now serve as Back and Reload accordingly to cater for
strong habits of some users and making the experience of casual users a
bit smoother.
Now for the bonus, geo URI support, which is a fairly new standard for
URIs such as
geo:50.75504,7.07751
which you can open in Midori to have it show a map of the location as of
now. There used to be extensions to support this in Firefox and Chrome,
both of which unfortunately haven't been maintained recently. Midori can
also serve as a system-wide handler of the geo: scheme on Unix systems
(GLib >= 2.28).
As a reminder, the user agent strings changed with Midori 0.3.5 and if
you used to pretend that you're browsing with Safari or Firefox, try
going back to identifying as Midori. Typical issues such as Facebook and
other websites mistaking Midori for a mobile phone browser or Google
hiding interface tweaks have been addressed with this change.

Release notes for 0.3.5
=======================
[Please note that this is a development release.]
[This is a stable release.]
So Midori is going full speed ahead, we support the new libSoup cache
now (WebKitGTK+ 1.3.11 or greater required) which supersedes the old
extension, support for F6, F7 and Ctrl(+Shift)+Tab and Tab in completion
and a faster speed dial, which is still in the middle of even greater
improvements, so stay stuned for more goodness in the future.
Private browsing has received a number of improvements such as masking
of the timezone, language, architecture and Netscape plugins, disabling
of DNS prefetching, disabling all HTML5 storage facilities and stripping
referrer details - the last one is also available as a preference in the
Privacy options now, and prevents unrelated websites from seeing search
strings or sub pages. You can use the --private switch on the command
line now to open a window in private browsing mode.
Motivated by user agent changes of Firefox and Chrome, Midori takes the
opportunity to omit the language and encryption from the user agent, and
prefixes with Mozilla now in an attempt at increasing uniformity of user
agents. It resolves typical issues such as Facebook and other websites
mistaking Midori for a mobile phone browser or Google hiding interface
tweaks (you know, the guys doing their best to ignore their own ideals).

Release notes for 0.3.3
=======================
[Please note that this is a development release.]
[This is not a development release, this is a bug in the release
manager]
One thing history shows is, nobody wants to write documentation. Even
though a number of people actually offered to do so, it never happened.
And then you notice, hey, there is the FAQ in the wiki, and it is full
of tips and tricks, and attracts users to suggest improvements. So why
not use that as the documentation? So that's what we do now. A side
effect is that it will always be shipped because no longer is docutils
needed. Which bears another lession: if you make it too easy to disable
something people may start to think it is not useful at all.
A sudden enlightenment as it sometimes happens and luck while typing key
words into DuckDuckGo brought me to: Link Fingerprints. I have been very
well aware of the utility of checksums for years. And yet, I will admit,
I often enough ignore downloads which offer me an SHA1 or MD5 sum to
verify my files. Why? Because it is different for every single site and
because I have to fire up a console to switch to the right folder and
compute the checksum, depending on which one is provided. That is simply
annoying.
So I thought there must be a way to handle that automatically. And
within minutes I found a Firefox extension that reads "fingerprints"
embedded in hyperlinks. From this version on Midori will show such a
checksum and display a warning if it doesn't match. I use this for new
releases of Midori from now on.
See http://mdhashtool.mozdev.org/lfinfo.html for the details.
As always, see the ChangeLog for all the other nice improvements.

Release notes for 0.3.2
=======================
Please note that this is a development release.
Aiming to get back to a sane release cycle, this release fixes crash on
autocompletion, adblock which was half-broken in the last release,
duplication of bookmarks on startup and using the Go button to open
addresses.
This release by default has no menubar in new installations. Existing
users can right-click the toolbar and select 'Menubar' to the same
effect. The 'app menu', also called 'compact menu' informally, has
existed in previous versions but I was concerned it didn't fully replace
the menubar functionally, I am now confident it does provide the better
experience.
Spontaneous collaboration of users on IRC brought up proper restoring of
tab order in the session. This is the kind of small detail I personally
never noticed much but people who care about it were able to make a big
difference literally over night, just before the release.
Fans of user scripts and styles will welcome that they will no longer
see multiple infobars in the wrong tab, and support for the review pages
on userscripts.org.
Bookmarks can now be exported to Netscape HTML, as compatible as
possible in light of apparent bugs of other browsers with regard to
escaping.
Progress and search engines in location are now mandatory, as well as
download notification bubbles. The statusbar no longer popups up for
downloads if it was explicitly hidden. This is clearer and works
better.
There is also a way to reload uncached now with a hotkey, by default
Ctrl+Shift+R.

Release notes for 0.3.0
=======================
Thousand and one bugfixes, that's what this release turned out to be. A
long run of tweaks in various places rather than short and explosive.
Kudos to Paweł for his great work, notably with bookmark import and
export, including Netscape HTML import, and a new infobar prompting to
install userscripts and -styles if the User Addons extension is
activated.
A rather big move is Launchpad as the new bug tracker. I have tested it
and am convinced of the superiour usability over FlySpray and Bugzilla.
And this addresses the frequently raised concern of using a unique bug
tracker, so it should be easier to report bugs with an existing account
and a familiar interface. The old bug tracker still exists and will
remain in place for a while, but new bugs should be reported at
Launchpad. The code repository and translations remain with Xfce and
Midori is still fully usable and supported on it, and dozens of other
platforms. Kudos to Dan and Michael for moving over a huge number of bug
reports.
The new default search engine is DuckDuckGo, https://www.duckduckgo.com
a slick and powerful engine with a string focus on data privacy and no
logging whatsoever. Midori uses the SSL version out of the box.
This change is not automatic for existing configurations, and Google as
well as Yahoo remain available from the menu and as tokens 'g' and 'y'
respectively.
Problems with ',' and '.' for link search and inline search with Russian
keyboard layouts have been fixed. Options for languages and panel layout
have been simplified. Netscape plugins no longer show up in the
Extensions panel due to repeated confusion with users. URIs keep spaces
encoded as %20 to allow copying to other applications. And context
menu-related problems have been fixed.

Release notes for 0.2.9
=======================
Notable focus of this release was on privacy features such as improving
cookie preferences, optimising saving and adding HTML5 databases as well
as form history to Clear Private Data. Websites making use of HTML5
databases will also trigger an infobar now so it is easy to Accept or
Decline.
The implementation of private browsing was improved, a private window
will look much like a normal session now respecting preferences, search
engines and keyboard shortcuts. Buttons and menus which don't make sense
won't show up anymore.
Spontaneously a Find Links feature was added, you press '.', numbers
show up next to hyperlinks and typing a number will open the according
link. If the number is not unique, you need to hit Return afterwards.
Finding inline works with ',' now because '.' is somewhat common for
Find Links in other browsers.
Have a look at the change log for other important changes.

The Bookmarks menu and toolbar button are back, newly implemented on top
of the database backend. Being more annoying than useful, the Homepage
was removed from the Bookmarkbar - it can still be added via the Toolbar
Editor extension to appear in the navigationbar.
The location arrow button can again be used. As a bonus, the Delete key
can now be used to delete individual pages that show up in completion.
The user script and style handling has become a little bit more
comfortable by making it easier to add, edit or delete files from the
panel toolbar.

=======================
Time for an exciting step ahead, databased backed bookmarks, which
brings in completion of bookmarks in the location entry and search in
the bookmark panel. On top of that we have dragging of bookmarks into
and out of folders.
A new feature is Delayed Pages. If Midori crashes and you open it again,
pages will be delayed/ suspended/ frozen and not fully opened until you
reload them. This is handy if one website is problematic, so it won't
crash or freeze immediately again. Also it accelerates startup because
not all pages are loaded into memory at once. The feature can also be
enabled by default in Preferences > General > When Midori starts > Show
last tabs without loading.
Fans of Speed Dial will like the option at the top of the Speed Dial for
larger thumbnails. Also you can now have as many shortcuts as you like.
Also worth mentioning are some performance optimisations during page
load as well as optimisations in adblock including compatibility
improvements.
Two new extensions are shipped by default: 'Minimize New Tabs' and 'Copy
Addresses of Tabs'. Have a look in the Extensions panel and try them.
A little goodie that came in last minute is completion of multiple
words, for example type "my cat" in the location, and it will match any
visited pages or bookmarks with a name such as "my chubby cats" or "my
box with cat toys".

Release notes for 0.2.6
=======================
Due to a fairly common crasher related to frames which fail to load, I
decided to do a quick follow-up release. There is also a build-fix for
API documentation, which didn't work in the last release.
As it is my habbit to always have something small, that makes it worth
upgrading in stabilizing releases, today I feature custom number of
columns and number of shortcuts in the Speed Dial. I expect a few people
with high-resolution screens should like that. Simply click one of the
top left labels and type a number in the window shown then.
As depending on the icon theme, not everyone saw icons in error pages
and the speed dial, I reworked the icon code. Now all icon themes should
show 'edit' and 'remove' in Speed Dial shortcuts and icons in error
pages.

Release notes for 0.2.5
=======================
Today is a good day for an exciting release. Raise your paws... or hands
for celebration, Midori 0.2.5 is out of the door.
Notably visible validation of SSL certificates, which is reflected in
yellow or red background in the location. There is more to come, but it
is a good step ahead. See bug 168 for further details.
For Kiosk usage, support has been enhanced. The new command line
switches --inactivity-reset and --blocked-uris can be used to reset the
session after a period of inactivity and also to restrict the accessible
websites to prevent misuse of the Kiosk interface. Feedback in bug 605
is very welcome.
A fancy new feature, targetted at those who want to extend Midori, is
Vala support for extensions. There are currently no vital parts
implemented in Vala except one example extension, and some bits are
likely missing, but you can already implement seriously good
enhancements in Vala. So anyone interested is welcome to give it a try.
Mouse Gestures now support the right mouse button and this is the
default binding. Many users requested this and should hopefully enjoy
gesturing a lot in the future.
People who like to surf the web fullscreen may find themselves losing
track of time. A solution for this is the new Status Clock extension,
which renders a clock in the statusbar.
Subtly but notably the Speed Dial now supports opening shortcuts with
number keys. Now speed dial is even more speedy.
The Network preferences have changed to easily switch between No proxy,
Manual proxy server and Automatic detection. This helps usability and
facilitiates temporary use of a proxy server.

Release notes for 0.2.4
=======================
This is a stabilization release, focussed on small improvements. Build
errors with different GTK+ versions were fixed, accidental middle clicks
don't search unless Alt+ middle click is used and opening addresses from
external applications in combination with multiple browser windows is
fixed. Also the completion suggestion window won't overlap underlying
windows.
As a small increase in privacy, the micro version and architecture are
not anymore included in the identification string.
Bookmarks can now be exported, from the Bookmarks menu, to XBEL.
Scroll keys can now be specified in the Shortcuts extension, to use for
instance Vim style keys for scrolling in web pages (which is now the
default).

Release notes for 0.2.3
=======================
Here we are after an elongated release cycle. The reason for that is
notably the refactoring of the completion functionality. The suggestion
popup was rewritten to hugely improve completion performance, Startup
performance could also be improved a lot. The History panel gained a
search entry so it is possible to search the entire history easily.
The panel layout was simplified, with icons without labels on the bottom
to save space and make it look a bit leaner.
Adblock gained 'Block image' and 'Block link' menu items, which make it
possible to easily block individual images that you don't want to see.
There is a special page 'about:version' now to make it easier to see in
what configuration Midori is running.
A new preference 'Preferred languages' should be good news for people
speaking multiple languages.
Window raising behaviour was improved, which is important for users with
multiple workspaces. Midori will no longer pull existing windows towards
the current workspace just to open a new window.
Attaching of the web inspector to the browser window works much better.
It is now also always enabled.
The address entry has a 'Paste and proceed' menu item in the context
menu now. There is also a 'Close other tabs' menu item when
right-clicking on tab labels now.
The cookie manager now allows selecting and deleting multiple cookies at
once, which makes removing undesirable items much more convenient.
A number of improvements towards relocatability went in which are needed
for Win32. And file existence checks are more portable and faster now.

=======================
Time for Midori 0.2.2.
Bookmarks can be imported from Opera, Arora, Kazehakase, Epiphany and
other browser using XBEL. The XBEL support was improved in terms of
performance and compatibility with other applications.
Colourful Tabs now work in combination with the Tab Panel. Delete
Private data includes Web Cache which it didn't before. And if you have
a small screen or mobile device, Open panels in separate windows can be
useful. Correct ordering of History and Trash were fixed. The Shortcuts
dialogue display issues were fixed.
The options 'Show in toolbar' and 'Open as web app' were implemented for
bookmarks. So you can selectively decide what bookmarks or folders to
have in the bookmarkbar. And if you mark them as 'web app' bookmarks
open in a separate process.
Several improvements related to portability and compatibility were
applied, for Hildon and Win32. Build fixes for certain Glib and GTK+
versions were applied. libnotify is now a build-time dependency.
As always, look at the ChangeLog for more details.

Release notes for 0.2.1
=======================
We are approaching version 0.2.1. A great lot of polishing went into
this release. Mouse gestures are fixed, linking with gold is supported,
the navigation toolbar is hidden in fullscreen and the preference
dialogue was tweaked a little.
You may notice that opening of new windows is incredibly fast and
startup of Midori is faster. Hotkeys involving Tab or single characters
are supported now. Terminating Midori with Unix signals won't trigger
the crash dialogue anymore (a real crash will).
We have a Web Cache extension and a Tab History list now, both
incredibly nice additions. Also form history was improved, it works with
forms where it didn't before and saves values to disk so it works after
closing Midori in-between.
Here and there lots of changes are coming towards Hildon/ Fremantle
support. It is not yet completely done but you may see a proper Midori
on the N900 with the next release.

So it's release time.. and this update brings great things like saving
HTTP logins, mch better address completion, a fixed nes feed icon,
improvements of the feed panel extension, and an update of the tab panel
extension.
With WebKitGTK+ there is Undo/ Redo support now. And a revamped Adblock
extension that loads adlbock plus/ easylist files, and unlike the
previous version actually works wonderfully.
And last but not least the freezing is fixed that could occur when
opening multiple windows.

Release notes for 0.1.9
=======================
This version of Midori is a bit of a follow up and improval of the
previous one. The very much disliked popup below the address field was
removed. User scripts, user styles and the Netscape plugin panel were
fixed, they were broken.
The tab panel was improved, it has close icons now, ellipsizes titles,
tooltips and you can hide the panel operating controls now to make it
really space efficient.
Tools show up in the compact menu button now (the one that's visible
when you hide the menubar).
If you like to keep open certain tabs, now you can minimize them, which
means reducing them to icons - support for this in the tab panel will
follow in a future version.
Being careful with private data is easier because there's a new tick
mark in the dialogue in Tools > Delete private data, that tells Midori
to delete the chosen information when quitting.
A nice goodie is that navigation history is preserved in newly opened
tabs now.
